Personal-data access, correction or deletion request in Syria

Access, correction and deletion are different requests. Identify the organisation, the data concerned and the response sought. The applicable privacy framework and any retention duty must be checked before assuming a refusal is unlawful.

State the jurisdiction, any urgent date and the outcome you need. Scope and fee are confirmed before paid work begins.

Can I ask a Syrian data controller to correct or erase my information?

The published Law 12/2024 instructions describe correction, documented withdrawal of consent, objections and an erasure request when the purpose has ended or processing is unlawful. Specify the data, controller, processing purpose and correction or deletion sought. These are distinct requests; withdrawal of consent should not be treated as proof that every record must be erased despite another applicable retention obligation. Account closure and a personal-data deletion request may have different scopes. Identify the records still held and ask for the reason and applicable retention basis. Do not assume that closing access proves all underlying data has been erased.

Legal answer and supporting sources

Can a Syrian data request use an assumed GDPR-style deadline?

Do not assume one. Identify the organization controlling the record, where it operates, the particular data and the correction or deletion sought. Use an authenticated request and preserve the response. If the issue also involves unlawful access, distinguish that allegation from the record request: the Syrian cybercrime circular addresses investigation, not a universal access-or-deletion procedure. Retention requirements, third-party rights and any foreign law need separate assessment.

Legal context in Syria

Syria: Cybercrime legislation and the Ministry’s investigation instructions must be distinguished. Identify the alleged conduct and technical-investigation status; procedural safeguards and attribution of electronic evidence are separate from deciding whether a statement or act is criminal. What facts show how personal-data access, correction or deletion request arose, and what outcome is required?

Start a review of your matter

Send the key facts and documents through WhatsApp, email or the consultation form. CounselO confirms scope, fee and deliverable before paid work begins.

For a more useful first response, send:

  • Country, city, competent authority and any cross-border connection
  • The exact date of any hearing, notice, appeal or filing deadline
  • A five-line chronology and the outcome you want
  • The key contract, decision, notice or other document—redacted where appropriate

This page identifies issues for intake; it does not determine entitlement, liability, forum, deadline or outcome. Sending information does not by itself create an engagement. Matter-specific advice begins only after CounselO accepts the scope and confirms the service terms.
