Employment disputes and unpaid benefits

Wrongful termination in Syria

Compare the employer's stated reason with the contract, warnings and sequence of events. Record notice, the last working day and payments offered. A dismissal dispute needs separate assessment of the termination decision and each unpaid entitlement.

State the jurisdiction, any urgent date and the outcome you need. Scope and fee are confirmed before paid work begins.

Does describing the separation as resignation settle a Syrian dismissal dispute?

The published Labour Law distinguishes voluntary resignation from dismissal and a worker leaving because the employer breaches essential obligations. Articles 64–67 address different grounds and burdens of proof; a dismissal label does not establish them. Match the termination reason to the contract type, wage history and actual notice or registration before calculating a claim. CounselO is led by Lawyer and Legal Counsel Omar Al-Baghdadi. Each matter is reviewed against its facts and jurisdiction, not a one-size-fits-all answer.

CounselO states this career-wide figure includes legal matters, consultations, document reviews and related legal engagements handled or supervised across the region. It is an experience measure, not an independently audited outcome or a guarantee of results.

Legal answer and supporting sources

Should dismissal and resignation over an employer's breach be assessed in the same way?

No. The published Syrian Labor Law distinguishes employer termination from the worker leaving for specified employer breaches. Establish that the employment is covered by the law, then document who ended it, the reasons, notice and evidence of unpaid obligations. An allegation of breach does not itself prove a right to compensation. Read the operative rules and amendments against the actual contract and end date before choosing the claim.

Legal context in Syria

Syria: Labor Law 17/2010, its applicable amendments and social-insurance rules must be matched to the employment relationship. Public appointments and special categories require a separate scope check; distinguish a wage claim, insurance issue and challenge to an employment decision.
