Debt collection and judgment enforcement

Payment order and urgent debt recovery in the UAE

Identify the written debt evidence, due date, fixed amount and any dispute or prior demand. Check the specific procedure before choosing it. A need for quick recovery does not by itself establish eligibility for a payment order or an urgent protective measure.

State the jurisdiction, any urgent date and the outcome you need. Scope and fee are confirmed before paid work begins.

Does any overdue UAE invoice qualify for a payment order?

Article 143 requires written evidence, including electronic writing, of a due right for a specified money amount or sufficiently identified movable property. Article 144 requires a prior demand allowing at least five days, served through an authorised method, with evidence attached to the application. Urgency alone is insufficient. Check jurisdiction, the debt documents and whether a cheque already has execution status before choosing this route. Identify the written debt evidence, due date, fixed amount and any dispute or prior demand. Check the specific procedure before choosing it. A need for quick recovery does not by itself establish eligibility for a payment order or an urgent protective measure.

Legal context in the UAE

the UAE: Commercial Transactions and execution rules distinguish a claim requiring judgment from an instrument capable of direct execution. A dishonoured cheque may raise specific execution questions; check the instrument, bank endorsement, payments and debtor before selecting the route. Does the debt fit the requirements of a payment-order procedure?

This page explains preparation and the broader review framework. The listed sources are references for the practice area; they do not by themselves establish an entitlement, deadline or procedure for this particular issue.
